If The south had won the civil war
What would have happened to slavery had the North lost the Civil War? Certainly this has been debated by countless historians, and though it seems slavery would have eventually died out, solid, finalizing evidence is not available. Also, though it is doubtful, the Emancipation Proclamation may have been passed even if the South had won. However, for arguments sake, let us say the Emancipation Proclamation was not passed. It is also important to note that had the South won, there would now be the United States of America and the Confederate States of America. Surely a spark would have started with slaves within the CSA because they would be able to see the freedom in the USA and certainly that would drive them to win over their own freedom. Also, the USA would still want freedom for the slaves in the CSA and they may be able to provide aid if the slaves did some form of large rebellion after a few years of peace between the countries. Of course, as the USA regained its strength, the CSA would be growing rapidly. Eventually a revolution would have to break out but with the CSA being so large, it would be a long and dragged out revolution even with the help of the USA. Unless this revolution occurred much later in time, into the 1900s, help from other countries such as Britain would be unlikely. Today all large countries have completely abolished slavery, and many of them had slavery when the USA abolished it. So even if that dragged out revolution did not work, we can make an educated guess based on how other countries acted that the CSA would have eventually abolished slavery.
